Oh boy, I do indeed passionately hate that RAM
but I guess getting it for free isn't so bad anymore. As long as the guy has no problems with it, OCZ can be notorious for that and a lot of GOLD sticks don't even run at their extremely loose and high voltage rated settings.
Everything else... actually looks pretty good

All x4s have 6MB L3... same with x6s actually. That value is for L2 & L3 cache (combined it is 8MB)

all man...not ocz. but like said, free. i'd try to shoot for something alittle better than a 5770. i had one and found it very disappointing. and no on the unlock.

will try with this build, hopefully it can hit 1333 without blowing up

460 768mb, don't get the 1gb se, its less powerful

1gb 460 se < 768mb 460 < 1gb 460

I have the 5770. It is a good card but not the most powerful which is why I went crossfire. Crossfire 5770s is good if he wants to add another down the road and works on 16x/4x pcie. For a single card the 460 768 should be the most powerful in his price range. Past that 460 1gb or 6850.

I have that motherboard, case, and cpu cooler.

With the case, its a good, light case with plenty of airflow.... but cable management isnt the greatest, it took me probably an hour and a half or so to get mine done half decently. and you will not be able to fit the top fans properly because they will not clear the ram in the front top becasue of how high the RAM slots are on the motherboard. and kinda of pointless to put in the rear top because of the size of the cooler IMO. But other than that the build looks good.

As for RAM, I was advised against OCS ram by almost everyone I talked to. And the guys at microcenter( Yes I got my motherboard, cpu, cooler, and ram there too) told me that OCZ is actually going to discontinue their ram. Not sure if thats true but yea. Anyway, Im Running 8gb of corsair 1333 ram. Microcenter has it for 90$ with a nice MIR. So far no problems with it what so ever.

take a look at my build log. Maybe it'll give you an idea of how cable management in the case is and help ya out with using that case in a build.

pm me if ya need anything or have any other questions.

Another DOA case. The 1333 CL9 Golds are the most notorious of all OCZ RAM for that.
The HyperX Blu is actually a great choice, it overclocks fairly managing 1600 CL8 easily and further sometimes, and 2000 CL9.

If he needs some cheap ram, the egg has these right now and from what I have been reading, are doing quite well (undervolted to 1.5v cas 8). Not quite as good as the kinstons, but could probably go better at 1.65v. Could be fun to play with

A Geforce GTX570 would be a great graphics card especially for people who play on very high resolutions like 1920x1200 or higher.
