Except not. The iPad, unlike even a netbook, does not have the same hardware functionality (or is even close, for that matter). It depends on a host (that is, a computer) to function. A netbook, on the other hand, does not. Neither does an ultra-portable, notebook, or desktop.
The functionality of the iPad is EXACTLY the same as that of an iPod touch. The only single difference between both is the screen size. Same goes for Android tablets that run the smartphone OS.
