Need help remembering an old game.

All I can remember was kinda like an old arcade helicopter/plane shooter for the pc. You destroyed other planes and stuff and there was a boss at the end of each level. once you finished a level you would get money to buy upgrades and more powerful weapons. I remember playing it back when windows 95 first came out. Can anybody remember what it was? or where i can buy/download it.

Sounds like Area 88, or the rebrand in the states as U.N. Squadron... maybe a port or emulator on PC. Strike Commander from Origin Systems would also be a contender for this style of game, but far more sophisticated... cool little game by the by... there is a helicopter game, 3/4 view that was on playstation that worked the same way... its pretty formula, should not have too much trouble finding a game like the one you described pretty easily, but I dont think anything new.
