GIGABYTE G1 Assassin Physical Review*** In depth! (Part 1 of 2) - Page 5

Great review! I am particularly surprised at Gigabyte's concerted effort with Creative to implement an integrated X-Fi sound system on-board.

The only drawback that I can see is the marketability of these products. The current trend in desktop computing mainly surrounds Intel's latest chip, SB (1155), plus the expectation of the upcoming Ivy Bridge, so I am not sure if these mobos will sell well in the next 12 months.

i have to agree with this comment, the boards price is just not suiting its generation and output right now, a lot of ppl have moved on the 1155, granted the pci-e lanes solution on the p67 boards right now and the sata flaw are pushing it down a bit, but the price / performance of the sandy vs 1366 have just come to the conclusion to go with SB till IB comes out.

i like the combination of the products, the heatsink is kinda stupid imho, but i guess to each their own... i deal with those kinda magazines IRL, dont need the same in my pc after coming in the door at home.

maybe they ll hit the market up with a newer revision suitable for 1155 socket wink.gif that be a nice idea.

well here is the thing not many people have switched to LGA1155, at least games stick with what they have and this board is a drop in replacement. you still see people buying P55 and even older stuff to drop in and replace their current motherboards. What better than to have a new motherboard option with all the integration. There must be some kind of market or else they would have worked on LGA1155.

Sin0822 I Saw the assassin at NCIX the other day and wanted to check it out at the Gigabyte site and there you were or rather, your review. Nice work.
While I was there I saw the new X58-OC board
If you are able to get that 990x paired up with the X58-OC board (don't know about the orange and black Halloween look), that review and results would be verrry interesting.
By the way I'm happy with the GA-X58A-UD7 I built with but I have noticed my board claims 24 phase power, whereas Gigabyte site and some sources refer to the board as 16 phase, other high end GA boards boast 16 lanes also.
Was 24 dropped, if so why. Do I realy have true 24 phase power.
Your attention to detail and the work you put into these posts is amazing.
TNX.
Terry.
