Kingston DDR2 RAM Problem Diagnosis

Thread Starter
I recently installed and extra 1gb of 800mHz Kingston DDR2 ram in addition to the 2x1gb of 667mHz Anya ram originally in the case (GM5472). All three are 240 bin unbuffered DIMM, yet the Kingston ram causes blue screen error as soon as the desktop is loaded with a memory management error or bad header error, sometimes it goes to BSOD at the login screen. What could be causing this if there is no compatibility issue with the mobo(Nettle 2 running Abit Mc2s16 bios), or the OS (W7 64b Ultimate)?

I've checked, and the board is capable of running dual channel or single
I've flashed the mobo back to the updated stock bios, no solution.
I've Manually capped all the RAM at 667 Mhz (5300) still no solution.
System runs with one stick of either Anya, but won't run on the Kingston.

Anya RAM has 16 chips, whereas the Kingston has 8 chips.

Kingston was made in china... shipped via normal mail in a manila envelope. Could it just possibly be DOA?

What are the stock timings of each? Make sure you're running both at stable frequencies and timings!

For example: If you have 2 sticks of memory XX and 1 stick of memory YY
Let's say XX stock is 667MHz 6-6-6-18
and YY Stock is 1066MHz 5-5-5-15

You will have the overclock XX to a certain frequency or downclock YY to a certain frequency. The same with the timing.
If you push one of the modules to try and match the other performance-wise make sure it's actually able to do it!

Basically, Try downclocking the faster RAM to match the Slower RAM's stock settings to make sure both are stable before trying to go further. This way you'll know if it's an instability problem or an incompatibility problem.

You shouldn't be running 3 DIMMs anyway... not dual channel. You'd be losing performance adding the extra RAM.

I was just testing the quality before I made a larger purchase. Fifteen dollars shipped for brand new ddr2 800mhz ram isn't bad... provided it actually works.
Now the seller wants to remotely access my computer to diagnose any Problems, which I don't know I'm comfortable with.

Don't let the seller remote access your computer. If your system is unstable with JUST that stick in there, then you know its a DOA stick.

Also, you didn't really get THAT great of a deal. Crucial 1GB sticks are $17 each shipped new off newegg. Link here for all DDR2-800 (sorted by lowest price).

It was mainly for the 100% return policy, again testing Q/C. But the 100% return policy is turning into a "let make up a compatibility problem to void said return" which is why I'm here ruling anything out, but there is no known reason this stick wont run either by it self, or with another stick as pair at least at a lower clock speed.
