The search for a good claw grip/fingertip gaming mouse!

Hi there,

I apologize for the long thread! So my Razer Krait died. I have been using it for years. It's a small mouse and I liked how I was barely grabbing it while gaming, like literally with my fingertips. I liked the low weight ( 80g ) and shape. It was in a sense the perfect mouse for me. Now I tried to buy another one and nobody has it. No reputable store has it. The ones on eBay seems to be some sort of overseas knock-off or are they the real thing? "Krait - AVA edition" as they call it.

So thinking getting a Krait was impossible, I researched and asked around for a replacement. Surprisingly there aren't that many options for a good small sized gaming mouse. The only ones are Kinzu - which has acceleration problems - Razer Abyssus - apparently has problems with cloth pads? There were lot of good praise for Microsoft WMO or Intelli 1.1. So I got the WMO. It's a very good mouse but very uncomfortable for me. I can't comfortably grip this mouse. The back side feels big/too high and hurts my wrists after gaming. That's not good. So what else should I try now? Razer Abyssus? Should I keep looking for a Krait? Try the AVA edition? You have one and want to sell? Questions Questions! Any sort of help would be helpful!!

Thank you

Purely fingertip, I'd say G9x, Abyssus and Kinzu (weren't the problems somewhat resolved through updating?).

Everything I have read about the Kinzu so far said the acceleration is not software related but part of the hardware itself and is not changeable. So I suppose Razer Abyssus is the only next choice. I'm not so fond of Laser mouse. I wish Krait was still available!

Thank you

I use a G9X and grip it with my thumb and little finger. Very comfortable.

That's very good to know! How's the tracking like? any skipping? Are you using a cloth pad?

Thank you

yeah, unfortunately most all the best finger grip mice currently available are going to be worse on cloth

The Abyssus would be right up your alley if not for the jitter issues on cloth, the Krait was essentially replaced by the Salmosa which was essentially replaced by the Abyssus so its unfortunate because it would likely be a perfect replacement. That being said you could always try and find a Salmosa somewhere - it seems as though Best Buy still has them for sale although it's showing close to $50 after taxes and shipping for me.

Avoid the Kinzu, its just garbage - cheap plastic feet feel terrible on any surface and the sensor is just too unreliable. A shame because this is also right in that same range of size/shape/weight of the Krait/Salmosa/Abyssus.

The G9x is an option, but the sensor might have more acceleration that you'd like on cloth, its also going to be noticeably heavier, although its not nearly as bad as other Logitech mice.

The same is true for the Xai and its sensor which is nearly identical to the G9x's, a little bigger than the others but I just love it for my finger grip

I find the Logitech g9x + Artisan HIEN kai.g3 mousepad a perfectly working combination for both fingertip use and tracking consistency without exhibiting the acceleration you would notice more on cloth.
