2200 budget? What can i build? - Page 4

Like I said above it might be a wise idea to toss in an SSD.

Either of these SSD's should be good and your client also gets the benefit of fast boot times and fast load times in their workstation apps (great when those workstation apps crash which is a pretty common occurrence at least from my experience).

Crucial C300 64GB $125
OCZ Vertex2 50GB $100

Also like I said you don't exactly need a Workstation card but it does offer extra support if your client so needs it (which the Consumer/Gaming cards don't offer). Specifically these are the benefits listed on the PNY site. Most are pretty standard like the 3 year warranty but the real value comes from the application specific support from the dedicated engineers and direct tech support/elevated support privileges:

Quote:
3 year warranty
Pre-sales support and system configuration assistance
Dedicated Quadro Field Application engineers
Direct tech support hot lines
Support escalation for prompt issue resolution
Certified software support and bug reporting
Published product support and training materials
Support for all workstation brands and complex installations
Advanced replacement options for mission-critical deployments
Long product life cycles and availability
I guess in the end it's up to your client to cheap out and get a softmodded Workstation card or a real workstation card that offers those specific pieces of tech support. Depending on the industry they're in and what they make, a $700 GPU might be just the cost of doing business for them. Given that they're spending $3K on this they're probably not looking to cheap out on graphics though.

No I meant cheap out in the sense that you softmod a consumer grade GPU to a workstation grade GPU and not get the benefits of the extra support that I've outlined in my above post.

The Quadro 4000 will be fine, I don't think your client will need the latest and greatest workstation graphics (ie. Quadro 5000/6000).
