As a bunch of other people have said, the dual core i3 chips are a great value for budget gaming PC's and HTPC's. They sip power, clock high, and perform well enough in modern games. And total cost of system is also much lower compared with a 1366 setup. I used an i3 530 in a Lian Li V351 microATX case and it works beautifully at 4.0GHz.

The only desktop i5 chips (besides Sandy Bridge) that makes any economical sense are the i5 750 and 760 quads.
