Good point, people are looking at the big publishers too much. To them 400 thousand copies sold is a failure and they claim that the other 3 million copies that should have been sold were stolen away by piracy.

Is it really about who "wins"?

I prefer the pc expereince, i can seamlessly go from surfing the web to playing a game and vice versa. i have my choice of input devices and i can do what I want. We get cool indie stuff, game mods etc.
I highly doubt any RTS will make its way to the consoles sucessfully and MMO's probably arent migrating anytime soon. Sure the consoles rake in all the money, but who cares....

I like my gaming like my religion. Non partisan and non delusional...

I agree. Best $9.99 my friend spent to get me a copy. xD

I really enjoy Magicka. Not only is the gameplay fun an challenging at some parts, but it's just plain funny. Bliegh!

When I mentioned to Blizzard president Michael Morhaime the common refrain that PC gaming was dead, his first defense was pointing to World of Warcraft. His second? Facebook.
That is probably the saddest, most pathetic thing I've ever read in my entire life (at least where video games are concerned).

Yeah PC gaming is dead, I don't consider all this farmville torchlight, magica, meatboy, minecrap a part of PC gaming .
WoW is the same dead horse being continually milked for 7 years but it's essentially a corpse from 2004 that simply won't die.

The real PC gaming with each new UT, Quake or Half Life iteration causing the sound of jaws being dropped to the floor with each new graphical evolution is gone. After 2004 the real PC gaming just stopped, it became all about crapsole ports.

There only have been some occasional 1 or 2 games for PC like crysis or sc2 in whole 7 years.

We used to be able to. There is not that many indie games that are all that innovative to begin with. I'm talking on average as you could find many. A few changes here and there is not all that special or innovative.

Minecraft is a great indie game with a great mod community behind it. It is beginning to feel a lot like Half-Life back in the day.

This is a great post, very true, gaming is dying out...

However, I'll point to more community based games like Neverwinter Nights, which is a RPG, and say, this sort of gaming refuses to die, even 10 years later, it's still pretty strong.

Though, viably one could argue as a whole, the gaming world is dying, and they would be 100% correct, that it is...

Except kids will love those PSP2s!!!!

I think that someone cannot just look at one platform to make an assertive assumption or prediction, but when it comes to all platforms combined, I don't think gaming as a whole is dead.

Possibly leveled out the fields more, older players & wiser players use a Desktop PC, while more kids tend to play on consoles or portable gaming computers, and then of course there are the phone fanatics, who, just like their level of technical savvy, will be rather limited in what they can play...

No matter which platform you refer to, people get tired of gaming, and eventually take breaks, as time rolls on, I think we will see changes, so maybe Gaming is losing it's popularity, what next then?

Cheaper games or Higher Quality Games? THAT is the real question at hand here..

The only speculation I have is, if Game Makers start making more high quality games (with much more depth as well), maybe gamers won't be so put off by the simplicity of some of many of the games on the market today.. Am I correct or not?
