hmmm with the accelero extreme plus that is a pretty awesome deal

BUT

I would keep away from dual gpus in the one card.... let's just say after getting a 4870x2 I will never ever get one of those cards again.....

I've had an HD5970 too, I had no driver issues ever!

Just use the proper drivers and profiles and you're good to go.

@ OP, I suggest you to use 10.12a Hotfix drivers (Click to download) and latest Crossfire Profiles found here (11.2 CAP 1 are latest right now).

Use that, and you'll be good to go.

I hope I was useful to you

I lol'd

You do realise that Aceelero Xtreme can cool down your card and keep it under 50c eve when running it fully overclocked at 1000/1300?

All you need is a good airflow and some fans blowing into the card (1 or 2)

I had one myself... its crazy (well I still have but using waterblocks anyway)

If the 6990 doesn't blow it away I'm going to be severely disappointed. But $300 holy crap, that's the same price as a 6970... but like... 21000000000000000000000 times better.

I have a HD4850X2 and i don't have any driver issues, though i use the old 10.5a because they work better for Bad company 2...Do you play BC2?

I heard the VRM's get hot when overclocking, anyone knows about that matter?

Yeah, the VRM's actually run hotter with the Accelero Xtreme than with stock reference cooling especially if the thermal pads were incorrectly installed. Hot VRM's when overclocking 5970's is a known issue that you can Google. I played with the thermal tape adjusting it and doubling it up helped a lot when I was using Accelero Xtreme.

Yes, I play Bad Company 2, a lot, and trust me, use those drivers I gave you together with latest CAP profiles!

Those drivers are the best for the 5970 on BC2!

Hope I helped you, if you need any help, let me know.

You must have had a bad mount then, because even the VRM's improved by about 10ºC on my HD5970 compared to stock cooler.
