Wiping is an option I'm currently not wanting. My sister wants her PC exactly like it was before the update screwed it over.

Thanks, I'm going to look into it. This may be the answer I'm looking for. Does it work with Vista (with or without service packs?)

Wow great analogy, not sure if it quite applies to my issues, but you should save it for future use in another conversation.

I should have answered this earlier. The globe is there and when I check I see the computer connected to the network (router) and the internet is also connected (globe with 'Browse the Internet'). However, I cannot connect to the internet.

When I try to access the router, the address is invalid. I need to figure out why it can't see the router. Safe mode w/ networking gets me a connection and so does Hirens BCD (what I'm using right now).

This is really frustrating.

Problem is solved. Needed to uninstall Norton w/ their removal tool even though it wasn't running. It must have had some services or other issues holding things back.

At least it's solved.

older versions of Norton would disable all network traffic and place the computer in a DMZ when the subscription ran out.

I hate all Symantec products with a passion. I've never once, EVER had any good experiences with them. Once NISS was removed everything worked flawlessly.
