Display error. Please Help.

Thread Starter
Hi guys, i brought a new 21.5" dell ST2220M and hooked it up to my gtx 460 1gb ddr5 (DVI port) . Tried back ops, played in max settings with the resolution of 1920x1080 @ max settings and the game worked fine with my monitor. After that i tried to play left4dead1 and when i launched the game, the screen goes black and the following message displays " the current input timing is not supported by monitor display, please change the input timing to 1920x 1080 @ 60 ghz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications".

Since i am using l4d1 through steam, i found the fix. I had to open steam>library>l4d1>properties>SET launch option>"-startwindowed". After doing that, my game went in window mode and i didn't get the error, then i could do the necessary settings to get it to full screen with necessary settings.

Now, i installed FEAR 2 and when i launched the game the same error was displayed. But the problem doesn't seem to be in all the game, the Crysis game worked fine.

Guys, do you know what might be the problem, and is there any fix for this. I really want to play FEAR 2 and scared of the same error for upcoming games.

Your suggestion will be of great help to me
Thank you.

I think the games are trying to run the game at a higher frequency than your monitor's range (ex: 75hz). Try to delete the games config files to reset the configuration.
