Warranty issue

Thread Starter
I have this ASUS UL30A QX131V laptop (I'm the first owner) with a UK keyboard. Which aggrevates the hell out of me. I want a US one. With the @ on the 2 instead of it somewhere next to the enter key.

Now, the keyboard isn't the issue, there's a few I can get off eBay for $15 but does anyone know if the warranty will void if I open up the laptop to replace the keyboard? Is there a sneaky sticker on the inside or something?

Thanks,

Ben

Nope, no voiding the warranty for that, though the keyboard comes off fairly easily on most laptops with no need to physically open the computer. Then only think I would do is to keep the old keyboard for warranty purposes just in case you need to send the computer in for something as they can be picky about things such as that

Some of them are secured with one screw which requires you to open laptop, but some dont.

I know. I have tried to open it, and it's hard. Very hard. And I'm an experienced mechanic. With my previous laptop I could just pull off a peice outer shell, undo 4 screws, and I could replace the keyboard. It's a total different story with this laptop.

What about setting the KB layout in Windows to US? The last lappy I bought had the Canadian layout... *shudders* I just set the layout to USA, problem solved.

I know. But what if I'm looking for a symbol that's on a totally different spot?

Exactly.
