5850 cannot be crossfired with a 5970. It's not physically possible.
But the 5850 and 5870 and 5850/5850, 5870/5870 can. Or a 5970 with a 5970

Plus you have a 5970, what more can you actually want?

Of course you will. Now you will need to think if your psu can take them both and the heat you will be producing. But yeah it will be a nice boost since the 5970 are two 5870 gpus so you will have 3 5870s (theoratically)

Ok, even if it is possible, he doesn't need all that power since he is limited by his monitor's refresh rate.
And, what kind of game will he be playing that actually needs tri-fire? Is it Crysis 58?

farmdve, it's been possible since the 48xx series. There were people who could crossfire 4890s with 4870s. The 4890 would just downclock to 4870 speeds when in crossfire.

I haven't heard of anyone crossfiring a 5970 and a 5850 together though, as it brings down performance of the two better gpus. Not to mention, trifire scaling isn't that good and that is where driver issues and possibly a CPU bottleneck may occur, though not so much at 4ghz.

Thx for replay, but if i get a 1200W PSU that would be enough right?=P
And what if i get an i7 would i get a very big frames boost than my current setup?=S

750W should be enough if you dont overclock the GPU's. Overclocking would be pushing it, but an 850W would be able to do it. As far as the CPU, it depends on the game. Some games depend mostly on the GPU, and some dont. I would expect that in most or all games, you will see some improvement, but the processor and GPU's wont be 'matched' by any stretch. If you really want to upgrade, I'd say go for the 5870 and think about CPU later, maybe after we see bulldozer and ivybridge duke it out.
