I haven't heard of anyone crossfiring a 5970 and a 5850 together though, as it brings down performance of the two better gpus. Not to mention, trifire scaling isn't that good and that is where driver issues and possibly a CPU bottleneck may occur, though not so much at 4ghz.
Ok, i will get a HD5870 not HD5850, but if i only keep the HD5970 and upgrade to i7 would i get a very big fps boost, than my currently Q9650 4Ghz?

Won't i need watercooling then for 5Ghz?

If you want a good boost sell your 5970 and get a gtx 480/580. I had the 5970 and it was garbage. Especially DX11 the 5000series sucks. I could barely play Bad Company 2/Metro 2033 maxed out. Even when I had 1 gtx 480 I did things my 5970 could never do. With two its out of this world.

You will definitely get better framerates. Dont let people who show you benchmarks and reviews. On paper Frame rates sometimes go higher etc but its about actual smoothness when playing a game. Things just felt sluggish even when FPS said otherwise. Bad Company 2 ran like crap regardless. Smoke would make the game go below 30fps. Metro 2033 ran like crap.

Getting gtx480 and if you get a gtx580 everything was super smooth. Bad Company 2 1920x1080 at 32xAA ran 40-60fps on one video card. This was impossible on ATi. Trust me save yourself the headache and sell it ASAP. Check craigslist. I got both my gtx480s for 300 each. What a steal!

did you have enough power going to it, because I all but max BC2 on a 5870 at the same res you are using

And with that you step in the relm of fanboisim, sad intially it seemed as though you were trying to
help him

edit: SimplyTheBest is a definite troll, if you don't believe me, hit the "view more posts by" button for him, just looked through to see if he just having a bad day or if its ongoing, nearly every post is an ATI/AMD thread where he is talking down the 5 series and talking up his 4xx series Nvidia even when its obvious his recommendation isn't wanted/needed. Sad, in three weeks this member has contributed nothing to our site

Not a chance in hell. http://www.legionhardware.com/articl...ti_soc,10.html The 5970 is still kickass. Two 580's would beat it, but im not sure how it would compare to 5870 trifire.

Ya you call me the fanboy, Your the one defending your ATi video card like they pay you. Why do even bother. You didnt have the 5970 like I did. Wasted money on it only to find out a cheaper single GPU beats it.
I build/fix computers for a living There was no user error involved. Just a terrible GPU manufacturer who still cant get their drivers working well. Remember the hype surround ATi 11.1 then 11.2 drivers? Complete fail. Where are the 50-100% improvements ATi was talking about?

But the 5850 and 5870 and 5850/5850, 5870/5870 can. Or a 5970 with a 5970

Plus you have a 5970, what more can you actually want?
It can be. If you stick a 5850 in, the 5970's cores will underclock to 5850 speeds.
