Galaxy 460 GC Underclocking Itself?

Thread Starter
Alright so... I have two different things telling me it's both overclocked and underclocked. I hit 920 Core, 1820 Shader, and 2200 Memory. 1.09mV.

I'm using MSI Afterburner and while the bars are at 910/1820 it only says 405 in the actual hardware monitor. I'm using Forceware 266.58.

It doesn't just say 405 when it's being used. It stayed at 405 while I was doing a 3DMark test. How do I stop it from underclocking itself? Or even, how do I keep it at stock at that? 700MHz is better than 405.

Edit: Whoops, 460.

1st go to nvidia control panel mnage 3d settings power management choose prefer max power.
If that didnt solve your problem then your oc is not stable as the card is either reverting back to stock clocks or gets stuck at 2d clocks. Try bumping the volts a bit.

its powersaving i think, does the same thing with mine (dont care though, goes to normal when folding/gaming)
the fix is located here: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/4238...nclocking.html (its for the GTX 200 series but you can give it a shot though, maybe it works on the fermi aswell)
only look at picture 1, done? reboot your pc and set it to default clocks or OC it

It's underclocking to save energy/decrease heat. You don't need it running at full blast in order to surf the web, do you?

Well no, but even when I start up Kombustor or a game, or 3DMark, it stays at the lowered speed.

Sounds like an unstable overclock to me, I would reset you comp and lower the clocks a little and run a stress test and then repeat until you are stable without downclocking.
