sorry, you can hack, and steal and cheat without this hack. people have been hacking ps3 games and cheating WAY before this hack came out. I dont care about ps3 games, or backups or copies, all i want is to be able to use my ps3 as a media server like i was when i bought it. the fact that they removed it amounts to bait and switch.

Some of you guys are idiots...
What about those people who have their ps3 jailbroken to play linux (like my ps3) or play games completely without disc (like my ps3).
All you guys think about is hackers.. try thinking about the open possibilities of what you are able to do with the ps3.

I have my ps3 jailbroken so I can have VLC on my ps3.

Yes because if you want to use Linux - you need PSN? We're the idiots. smile.gif

Playing without a disc is again, violation of PSN as well.
The same thing is applied to PC games all the time - you use no disc cracks you can get plagued with problems. I remember BF2 constantly not letting me online because of a no disc crack.

I mean, I support homebrew as much as the next person does. But this isn't just homebrew when you talk about cheating online. In fact, it's hard to just call it cheating because it encompasses everything. It's out right black hacks that shouldn't even exist in the first place.

When you buy a console you basically sign their agreement when you turn it on.

well not entirely. It's when you sign up for PSN.

also jailbreak does = hacking, exploiting or piracy. If you think this then you have no idea how setting up a jail-broken ps3 works. All of those require completely separate programs and files.

which you need to be jailbroken for. lol

We have no proof that they are only banning people who cheat in games or pirate, and until we have that Sony can go to hell.

Sony are so mean to want to ban people able to pirate their games and cheat, why would they do that ? /sarcasm

If you want your CFW don't connect to PSN, that's as simple as that.

Exactly this. It's like my buddy convincing me to jailbreak my ipod touch. So I did. Guess what--it doesn't really do jack squat more for me than when it was the normal iOS, and I am not at all interested in getting apps for free (or apps in general for that matter).

The only real reason why 99.9% of people mod or jailbreak their hardware is to get things for free that they'd otherwise have to pay for. VERY few are actually doing something novel or productive with it. I'm fine with banning people from a service, and all you morons who say "it's my hardware, I should be able to do what I want with it..." nonsense--yes, go ahead, you can do whatever you want with your purchased hardware--you just don't get to use their services.
