The answer to your question: Yes, get a SATA dvd drive.

The answer to what you want to ask: No you can't hook your IDE drive to it.

Well that's definitely a different board.

And if you have a SATA DVD drive, then yes of course you can connect it. However, it sounds like you have an old IDE connected DVD drive, so no, there isn't

Like we already said before...not unless it's a SATA drive.

Yes it has been replied several times, get a SATA DVD drive instead of a IDE/PATA DVD drive. If you think you got the wrong motherboard, call up newegg and ask for an exchange. It's also possible that gigabyte pulled a fast one and removed IDE/PATA from newer versions of that motherboard. Many motherboards made those days no longer have IDE/PATA slots since those hard drives and DVD drives are no longer getting made.

Looking at the two boards you linked, it's definitely a mix up. Both boards looks similarly enough and even cost the same, but are totally different designs. You should call up newegg and ask for a exchange.

Just get yourself this SATA DVD Burner for $20:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-188-_-Product

Your motherboard should've came with SATA cables to use.

Also, please change your thread title to:
Help my CD drive isn't compatible with my motherboard.

There is nothing wrong with your board. They sent you what you ordered. The blue sata connections are where you hook up a dvd-rom to.
