Thread Starter
Hey just wanted some feedback on a rig i am building, this rig i am designing is on a £800 budjet at the moment so bear this in mind.

Asus P8P67 or LE version (Still in two minds)

CPU:
Intel Core I5-2500K 3.3Ghz

Memory: Corsair XMS3 4Gb DDR3 1600 (2x2Gb) OR
Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR3 1600 (2x2Gb)

Graphics Card:
XFX 2048Mb ATi Radeon HD 6950 PCI-Express VGA Card

Hard Drive:
Western Digital Caviar Blue 640GB SATA

PSU:
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650W Power Supply

CPU Cooler:
Open for ideas...hyper 212+ or the nice looking Zalman ones

Case: Antec 902 V3

Only advice I would give you would be to get a 500GB or 1TB hard drive instead. The 640GB's are built off an older platform so a 500GB would give you better preformance. Other than that looks pretty good.

Based on benchmarks, Zalman seems to be outdated as far as performance goes. Hyper212+ is an easy pick in the price range to me.

I love my 2500K, best bang for your buck out there.

Dunno on video card or memory, but I chose corsair on PSU after lots of research. It's good that you're fitting a quality PSU in a tight budget.

Caviar Black is often the same price as the Blue, and it's a little faster. Right now it's cheaper at newegg!

You're gonna love the SB, though! You know its unavailable until April, right? Mobo's got recalled.

Thats good i see you packing a i5-2500k they look badass in benchmarks, ye i was thinking hyper 212 but i want a good looking one with the same performance.

Sorry SB = Sandybridge what a dope lool. yeah heard about the recall so its best waiting then?

Whether or not you wait is, of course, a completely personal decision. Here's how I see it:
Wait: Because the $200 2500K is almost as fast as the $1000 980x.
Don't wait: Because you probably won't notice the difference in most applications between the 2500K and a $300 i7-950 (you'd have to get a cheaper mobo to keep your budget, though).

Mine was in the mail when the recall hit. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't ordered in time, prolly would have gotten a 950.

Hmm well i could wait not a issue ye i am on a budjet board and the max is £120 which is the P67 mainstream one, but wouldn't waiting allow the prices to shoot up.

But waiting really wouldn't really make a difference, a few computer places i know are still selling the Mobo's that where ment to be on recall...

Well if you can buy it, do so! No regrets for me, even if they wouldn't replace it come April. It's still got 4 SATA ports you can use, and I don't need more than 3 HDD's and a dvd.

I can see where you are coming from and i guess its one of those issues, my only concern when the new batch come out of 6950 you wont be able to flash it from what i am hearing.
