Turn my vista laptop into wireless access point?

Thread Starter
hey guys,
ive done some searching around but I have yet to find anything that works, but I'm relatively sure it's possible.
I have looked around the properties and advanced tabs in my network settings but I can't find anything that looks right, how do I go about setting it up to where I can plug the CAT5 into my ethernet on my laptop, into my desktop, and run the internet through the wireless to my desktop? Any help would be much appreciated!

I can't remember exactly how to do it in Vista; but in Win 7, you go to Network Connections in the Control Panel where you can see the Local Area Connection and the Wireless Network Connection. You right click one of them and select "Bridge Connections".

1) Connect to ethernet and set up an ad-hoc network on your laptop
2) Run Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
3) ???
4) Profit

The easiest way to do this is use a program called "Connectify". it's free, and you'll be up and running in 5minutes.

Sadly the catch: only works with Windows 7 for now frown.gif
