We must first create faster technologies, and then once those technologies start to become more mainstream and cheaper to produce, we start to work on making those technologies more energy efficient.

They have, but like the way people prefer performance over efficiency, people prefer the thinnest and smallest battery over something that is high capacity and reliable. People are not even given the option, as the industry continues to use oddball pack sizes to keep prices up on their proprietary packs. It is also planned obsolecence, as by the time the pack caves, the computer is a tosser because a new machine will be not much more expensive than the oddball pack that one if forced to buy.

Battery life can be greatly extended by refusing to make credit card thin devices, and by putting proper charge management into the system - which would chop perhaps $2 out of their profits.

How do you manage the over-heating due to overclocking ? The phone is designed to work at a certain temperature in that area.

most overclock kernels actually undervolt the processor but bump up the speed

Qualcomm is way behind on the SoC race hopefully they can catch up quickly. I was hoping that HTC would switch to Tegra 2 or OMAP 4 series SoC's but they seem to love Qualcomm chipsets.
