Are my temps OK?

Hey guys, I'm a little concerned about my CPU and GPU temps. While installing the heatsink for my CPU, I picked it up and repositioned it after applying TIM. I recently read that it was not good to remount the heatsink without replacing the TIM. I think it was still wetish when I put it back on, but I can't remember, it was a while ago.

My room temperature is ~24C and my CPU is running at around 35C. Also, my video card seems to be running pretty high at ~45C. I remember reading that video cards are more resilient to heat than CPUs, but that seems like a pretty big gap to me.

CPU looks fine. So does the GPU. I'm assuming you're using stock cooling on the GPU?

Worry when it idles at over 60 and maxes at 70

We really need more info. If in your post you meant the CPU is idling at 35c, thats a perfectly acceptable idle temp. Is it over clocked? Run Prime95 on blend for 15 mins and report your max temps back here. Also, 45c at idle is a perfectly acceptable idle temp for a gtx470. What does it load at in games and such?

Yes, how much of a benefit would discreet cooling provide for a GPU? I've heard that Fermi cards tend to run very hot.

You sir are correct. You could buy a aftermarket cooler.

The Fermi's all run hot. That's just how they are. I've got 3 of the 470's sandwiched together and occasionally it's like a sauna in the computer room. Anyway if you don't like the temps you're seeing on it you can set up a custom fan profile on MSI Afterburner so that it sits at a lower temp.

Everything else looks pretty much fine.

Thanks guys! Are "VGA Coolers" on newegg aftermarket GPU coolers? How hard are they to install? Also, how much of a difference does RAM cooling make? Though I'm not sure I could fit it with my heatsink in the way. Are they mainly for water cooled systems?

Also, this isn't the right place to post this but I don't think it's worth a new thread- I registered my motherboard on ASUS' website when I found out about the P67 recall, but I haven't heard anything from them... did I register too late? Or are the new boards just not ready yet?

Thanks

So I'm looking at these VGA coolers and they seem to come with multiple heatsinks. Do you apply these just at key points on the card? Do you need to remove the stock cooling on the card to install this, or does it go on the back side?
