Looks like it is definitely not using all 6 cores.

Do you really get better results oc'ing by upping the CPU/nb instead of the multi?

And about bumping the northbridge to 2500/3000, isn't it suppose to be as close to 2000 as possible?

Guess I need to read more on overclocking. I'm still fairly new to it.

yes, you do. mainly because your able to increase nb and ht, which really helps bandwidth.

cpu-nb to 3000ghz if you can and hypertransport close to 2000ghz if possible. others have arleady stated. performace cpu clocked 4.0ghz with cpu-nb 3000ghz will give you more performance then a sytem clocked at 4.1ghz with cpu-nb 2000ghz.

Haha. True that.

To OP: Follow what everyone's saying and use Handbrake.

OP you can use this to kinda test difference overclocks to see which works best for you.

http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=520

I don't have one for my 1090T, but I did do it on my i5. No idea how they compare, just trying to give you a baseline.

you can get better results using the FSB due to the ability to fine tune, you can up it in multiples of 17 instead of 200

And for keeping NB around 2000, your thinking of HTLINK, your NB you want as high as your clock will let it..

I always enjoyed a mix of a little fsb and mostly multi.

For instance, setting my core to 4.2Ghz, ram to 1066 (ddr2), and nb to 3GHz, the upping my fsb to raise up my ram past their max rated speed.

Unlocked chips are always easier to overclock, you just have more options.

It's still running fine. I upped the nb to about 2500@1.36v. Anything more than that and it would crash during bootup. Ht is just above 2000.

I read about another member having a problem getting his 1090 to work properly. I flashed the new bios, and it recognized the CPU, but would uninstalling the quad core drivers and letting windows install the new drivers help at all?

This processor is fast, I guess I was just expecting more. And about handbrake, I tried it. And it actually goes slower than tmpgenc xpress. And it was only utilizing 30-40% of the CPU. Is there anything I can do to make these programs use more of the cpu's ability?

When I do benchmarks, it runs the cores to the max... why won't a video editing program? The only thing I really use the power for it editing video, so I want all the power I can get out of it.

I was trying to do some benchmark comparing between my 945 and the 1090t, but now i can't seem to get the 1090 stable. Sometimes I get a BSOD, and according to the codes, I need more vcore, from what I've read. But then sometimes, like within seconds of starting prime, the computer just resets, no blue screen at all. What gives?
