Intel T9400 or Intel E8435

Thread Starter
Hey all. I am in a bit of a pinch here, I am trying to decide which of these two processors to put into my ASUS G50VT-X1 laptop.

I want 2.8 GHZ out of the processor so this would mean overclocking the T9400 or If I get the E8435 undervolting it.

The T9400 has a THD of 35 and is 2.53 GHZ

The E8435 has a THD of 44 and is 3.06 GHZ

Undervolting a processor will bring down the temp so at 2.8 GHZ I would imagine they would be about the same however I would like your opinions on this.

E8XXX usually indicates desktop parts. google indicates that it is only used in imacs
Pretty sure that the E8435 comes out of an imac.

I would go with the T9400, less heat = more chance of hitting 2.8, and it is a known laptop part.

Oh ok, didnt know that. Cool then I will scratch the E8435. I was looking up Core 2 Duo CPU's on Wiki and the E8 series were right above the T series so I just assumed they were both for laptops.

Actually, just did a google search, and the E8435 is a mobile part, but I have not seen it used in anything other than an Imac. Not sure if your laptop would support it.

Interestingly enough I was doing a little more research on the E8435 and noticed this processor is designed for laptops and is used in Apple Laptops. Which brings me back to my origional question of which would be better?

Not sure if your notebook would support the E8435, since apple is the only ones to ever have used it.

I would go with the T9400 just to be safe.

Or if you could find a quad core, that would be even better.

Unfortunately The G50 series or even the G60 series do not support Quad core processors. The software does but the hardware does not. Otherwise I would not hesitate to put a quad core processor in it. however for now I guess I will go for the T9400, there is only a $10 price difference between the two $70 and $80.
