Gigabit Router under my U-Verse router

Ok well I am trying to use a gigabit router as a AP under my U-Verse router. The U verse router is only 10/100 but all the things hard wired to the D-Link are 10/100/1000 are all these things fine for transferring things between each other at gigabit speeds?

I have read many people stated everything on a network needs to be gigabit, while I figure it is only if those are trying to utilize that speed.

Secondly, I noticed absolutely no increase in speed when I switched everything out. This would be going from my X58 -> D-Link -> PS3. I was sending a cideo to it but it still was only hitting maybe 10 Mbps. I checked that by the upload stream on my rig. Any Ideas? (All the wires and D-Link are brand new this week, Cat6 wires)

Thank you

All devices connecting to the gigabit router will be talking to teach other @ gigabit speeds, assuming they all support gigabit connections. Anything outside the gigabit router will be 100mbps max since your using 10/100 router.

I myself use a 10/100mbps firewall and all my devices, nas, several computers etc. are connected through a gigabit switch and the gigabit speed works. Check it out yourself in your network settings to see its a gigabit connection.

10MB/s sounds normal for real world performance with a 150mbps wireless connection. Transferring small files would be even slower. The formula is 150/8*0.5

Thing is the PS3 and X58 are hardwired (Cat6) to the D-Link lol so I was hoping for more like 30-40 Mbps especially since I am on a 1000 Mbps network lol

Don't confuse Mb with MB.

100Mbps connection will give you, about 12.5MBps
1Gbps connection will give you, about 125MBps

Now take in account for losses and processing. I see around 10MB on my 100Mbps and about 90MB on my 1Gbps.

Exactly, I understand this. This is why I'm trying to figure out why my PS3 wont go faster then 10 Mbps.
