Guess there was no volt overload protection?

But it does look like the cause was the mosfet and that just burned everything up including the 8pin cpu power as that melted the solder and it just pulled right off the motherboard. The backside is completely charred and burnt.

Will test the voltages on the PSU. RMA'ing the motherboard and will dump the replacement on ebay and going to buy something a little bit better quality. Going to consider adding a fan to that area as I still want to use the H50 till I go with a full custom loop.

Over voltage protection wouldn't have done anything, since voltage wasn't the problem. The problem was there was a short circuit (and not a simple short to ground, or else the SCP would have shut the PSU down) that caused a huge rush of uninterrupted current. What was needed was over current protection on the +12V rail. Your PSU has OCP on the +5V and +3.3V, but not the +12V. And the OCP should have been implemented in a multi-rail configuration, with a trip point of no more than 40A.

If you can get a new motherboard, don't use that PSU anymore.
This may be a response to an older post, but he is right, 130w for cpu at best does not translate into enough volts to do that. Your PSU however was pushing **** tons of voltage over I'm guessing at least 6 rails. There was an issue with your connector to be sure, but it actually shorted in the supply I think, the 24 pin was just the weakest part in the path.. Open the PSU and check to see is some debris or something is laying over any rails. Either way something is going on in that PSU.. . Sorry as hell though dude, that sucks sooooooo hard.
