Wow, that sucks dude.

OMG. I know I'm a little late, but you have my deepest sympathies. I think EVGA will probably RMA this in half a second... I mean, PSU or not, the thing CAUGHT ON FIRE...

Lol I love all the Asus/ASrock arguements.
Ive owned EVGA, Asus, Foxconn and now Gigabyte and personally this is my list of best to worst:
Gigabyte
EVGA
Asus
Foxconn

Only ever had issues with my Asus boards. They worked but were very touchy about settings in the BIOS. Nothing has been as rock solid as this P67 Gigabyte though. Its just stable and it works!

Thats a nasty burn man, ive only ever seen that kinda carnage once before.

this is a board problem.

ultra PSU's are not that bad..

and his rig didnt even stres the psu.. Cheap cap's/board.

EVGA board's are indeed good. just this board was questionable.

It appears so. Intel>AMD

Glad to hear it though OP and that 970 survived thankfully....not a cheap CPU lol.

Also to end the ASRock/Asus argument, Asus IS the parent company of ASRock, they are however not quite the same. It's similiar to how Activision (Now Activision Blizzard) owns Infinity Ward and Treyarch. While they are all seperate, Infinity Ward and Treyarch answer to Activision and Activision can do what they want with the studios.

Glad your up and running but why did you buy a recertified board? its a waste to buy from evga unless you get the lifetime warranty. I bet this never would have happened if you didnt skimp on your mobo. I dont trust reworked electronics!!!! Just wish I could remember the guy who had a sig listing like $20k worth of doa asus boards he couldnt replace, now he hated asus lol

Holy ****, this is freaky! The whole thing just melted, damn, that is one bad day for you. I would be ****ting my pants if my pc would set on fire, and even more so, after installing a brand new component on it!

dont know much about that, ive only ever owned one foxconn board (Acer OEM) but foxconn makes half the connectors you find on any motherboard anyway (plus xbox's playstations, many pmps ect....) and all those usually work fine (with exception of X360 RROD but thats a cooling design problem)

Also i have this motherboard. definitely doesnt look like vrm issue or that would be damadged too. looks like a severe short.....
