Computer caught fire! - Page 4

This almost looks like something shorted on the 8-pin, and your power supply did not have short circuit protection. This can't be VRM related, even on a LN2 run, a CPU can't pull enough current to burn a hole completely through the motherboard like that!
If you can get a new motherboard, don't use that PSU anymore.

i don't know much about psu but shouldn't the psu explode if something is short? if something shorts on the connector, the current will just route back to the psu itself... can't explain how the hell can there be a fire started in the 8-pin connector...

Call up Ultra and tell them their PSU literally blew up your PC. Try to sell the replacement PSU. The 1KW model has been selling for about 120 on ebay. Then get a new one from the recommended list over at the PSU forum.

It could have been that the PSUs overcurrent protection failed.
