Paranoid Noob!

Hey guys, just built a system, this is my first multi-core CPU based computer and im not sure about my temps. Im using an Antec 900v2. 2 Front mount 120mm intake fans, 1 rear 120mm exhaust fan, 1 200mm exhaust fan. the side fan will the a 120mm intake fan just have to wait till this week end. the CPU cooler is a Coolermaster 101 with 2x80mm Fans in a push pull set up, with arctic silver thermal compound. right now I leave all my fans on 100%, and the cpu fans are default at 100. the problem is my cpu idles at around 86f(30c) and has hit as high as 110f(43c)! I know the cooler is so so, what can I do to lower/improve the temps? the gpu and hdd are fine, the gpu plays wow at ultra for hours and never gets past 57c hard drive hangs out at like 60f(15c) at idle, the mobo never hits past 27c its just my cpu im kinda no happy about. refer to sig rig if you need anyother info on my rig. Thanks!

Maybe you applied too much thermal paste or the cooler is seated wrong. Just guessing here.

High? Thats not high at all, In fact those are some pretty normal temps. This is a quad-core processor, they will generate more heat. But you say that 43 Degrees celcius is hot. LOL 60 Degrees Celcius is the Max Temp for a CPU while playing 3DMark 11 and thats still not Overheating. You have nothing to worry about

Wait... WHOA sorry, I did not see the part about the fans being at 100%. That seems to be a problem with the Thermal paste that attaches the CPU to the Fan.

my cpu idles at 39-41 and hits 57*C under load. thats with 1.350 vcore and a slight oc of 3.3ghz. it is normal. you ar doing great as long as you do not hit 62*C as that is the max on most of them.

Thank you all so much for the speedy responce! i did use only a pea sized dab of thermal past. do you think it would be worth cleaning it off and reapplying it? But that makes me verry happy that im no frying the computer's cpu! thanks!

I would say no. 43c for a high temp is actually pretty cool. Even if you OC'ed the heck out of it and reached a full load temp of 80c-85c you would be in pretty decent shape. Oh, and on my first post... my bad thought your temps outside the brackets were in C, so your in good shape.

No, just no

Not with an AMD processor. Best optimal load temps for AMD should be under 62C or less. If you get 80-85c with that Phenom II 955, you'd have already crashed or shut off by then.

My 955 BE idles around 37c on 24c ambients, and full load doesn't go past 49c on prime or IBT.

Op's temps are perfectly fine for his system imo. Could be better, but it's well within normal operating temps.

To Op: If you want to lower the CPU temps more(which I don't really see necessary unless you intend to overclock quite a bit), then get a new CPU cooler, you need to factor in things like your budget, and what revision of your processor it is, if that 955 is a C2, at best you'd make 3.7 or 3.8ghz. If it's a C3 you could hit 4ghz or close to it.

Temps look perfectly fine. Pretty much what I'd expect with a somewhat better than stock cooler. Do you happen to know what your ambient temps are like? That could give everyone a better idea of what your actual cooling performance is. I get around 17C idle and 39C load in the mornings when it's colder in my room (~15C) but jumps up to around 23C idle and 44C load in the afternoon when it's warmer (~20C).

My temperatures are pretty similar to yours. Normally just a degree or two over room temperature when idle.
