in HFM it lists client type as Standard. It should be SMP since that's what i set up FAH for. See attachment.
So you need to reconfigure your client, like Chris said. You're definitely not folding SMP, so you need to add the -smp flag to your shortcut, for a start.

The delete the "work" directory, and the queue.dat file, and restart

Have you definitely created a shortcut to the client and add the -smp switch to the end of it?

yep. shortcut in the startup folder, added an "-smp" (without quotes) at the end of the target field.

EDIT: looking through the log files, i found this:
[18:59:11] + Processing work unit
[18:59:11] Core required: FahCore_78.exe
[18:59:11] Core not found.
[18:59:11] - Core is not present or corrupted.
[18:59:11] - Attempting to download new core...
[18:59:11] + Downloading new core: FahCore_78.exe
[downloading]
[18:59:19] Verifying core Core_78.fah...
[18:59:19] Signature is VALID
[18:59:19]
[18:59:19] Trying to unzip core FahCore_78.exe
[18:59:19] Decompressed FahCore_78.exe (2338816 bytes) successfully
[18:59:24] + Core successfully engaged

does this shed any light or does this mean squat?
