um...i would imagine if it didn't support 64 bit, it wouldn't even let you install it. my sisters laptop came with vista 32bit, but it is fully capable of a 64 bit OS (why it is able to run ubuntu x86_64, and 64 bit windows vista when i reinstalled on it.) the reason it didn't come with a 64 bit os when she purchased it, was due to the fact it only had 2 GB of ram (with a ram limit, no need to go to 64 bit tbh, i only put 64 bit on it, cause i couldn't find my 32 bit cd at the time.)
an error code of the bsod would help out a lot, are you able to boot into safe mode without errors?
