This is the main reason Quadros are better for workstation use.
The Drivers they use are designed for said use and are optimized for it and only it.
If a 580 could be flashed to a Quadro that would be wonderful because you would get the extra horsepower but to the best of my knowledge they cant and as such, are not the best choice.
Examples of the difference (and the mistake that is made often):
Putting a 580 in a workstation is an example of the saying "When all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail." The 580 is crazy powerful (hammer), but its far from effective at specific tasks (Special Nails). It can beat BFBC2 into the wood quickly but it will leave Maya bent and ugly.
A GTX 580 is like a Nuke. It Destroys everything in the blast radius.
Quadro card is like a sniper. It can kill the guy who starts the war.
If the guy starting the war is Maya, CAD, Photoshop etc and the City he lives in is the rest of computing.
Thats enough bad analogies for tonight.
Its 2:30AM and my IQ is beginning to sag quite a bit.
Im off to bed.
