Catalyst 11.2 XFX HD5770 Frame Rate Drops in SC2

Thread Starter
Hey everyone,
I installed the catalyst 11.2 drivers recently for my XFX 5770 and I noticed extreme frame drops in Starcraft 2. My other games, such as WoW, BF2, Crysis, all seem unaffected from the new driver, perhaps because they don't utilize DX11 (I'm pretty sure SC2 does, but I may be mistaken). I attempted to tune the new Tessellation option figuring that it may have been the culprit, but it didn't remedy the problem. I reverted back to 11.1 for the time being and SC2 is running just fine.

Anyhow, just thought I would share my experience and see if anyone else ran into similar issues.

Most likely just a driver issue, which seems to be the norm with ATi's drivers lately. It really disappoints me, actually. I've never had any driver issues up until the 11.x series drivers, nothing but issues with them.

When I went from 10.12 > 11.1, I got a whole field of issues. Huge FPS dips, display crashes, etc. I tried going from 11.1 to 11.1a and got the same issues, but less frequent crashes.

I went back to 10.12 and the issues disappeared completely.

Moral of the story is... Don't update to the latest drivers unless they've patched something you've had issues with, or if they've increased your GPU series performance.

I actually lost performance with 11.2 from 11.1 for some reason my 6950 just is not running right on 11.2s
