[bit-tech]Fixed Sandy Bridge chipset ‘begins shipping’

DigiTimes reports that Intel has already started shipping fixed B3-stepping 6-series Sandy Bridge chipsets to ‘first-tier makers’ of laptops and motherboards. It’s therefore expected that these companies will ‘unveil their Sandy Bridge-based models at the end of the month.

This was the expected time-frame that Intel quoted when the story of the Intel Sandy Bridge chipset flaw first broke, and indicates that production of Sandy Bridge motherboards should be in full swing by April.’

Is a "first tier" manufacturer foxconn?

And why do they think it will take until April if they've already started shipping?

I hope this is true, because I'm stuck with my netbook, since my P8 EVO died and there are no replacement boards! :/

And I don't really want to wait until April.

I hope I can get a fresh new mobo by early March.

uhgg a whole nother month and a third no cpu... and i agree with one of the above posts, if shipping has started, why April? I guess it would take them a month to organize and distribute such a large shipment, And then... some assembly required? The time sandybridge recovers= ivy bridge arrival date. lol joking, just feels like it

They are just beginnig to ship the fixed chipset to OEMs, they will next have to integrate them to new motherboards and ship them to retailers so it will take some time.

Me too, I sold my 1055 machine to fund my SB build and now I'm stuck on a netbook until they come back in stock...At least I have a dual core netbook that can manage to play SCII!

Lol "omg they are shipping early, i hate them!" or "omg they are waiting till April QQ".

Now, would you be more/less pissed if they said they were shipping out replacements now and they were pushed back to April? Of course they are going to give you a later date and push for it to be as soon as possible. They have other chipsets and processors to work on while fixing this.

Great news and everything goes smoothly!
