Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Well, I got 500 quid laying there waiting to be spent. I've been told many times to hold off until the 590/6990 comes out... but I've held my client waiting for a while now, and can't work with my broken 4870x2. I've also read a lot that the drivers might be poor, and that it'd be better off just grabbing a 580 or xfire 6950's... I'm not going with ATI this time because of some support problems for a smulator called Flight sim x.

So, what do you say, wait for 590, or buy some current cards out now? rumors say feb, some say ceBIT, I don't know but the wait is getting really stretchy.

Well,

If you keep waiting, you'll never get something. I personally have a GTX570 which is knocking out 33FPS on heaven benchmark (or something like that)

I would have a look at both the 6970 and the GTX570. They are both epic and the only reason I went with the 570 was because I wanted Physx. If you happen to have a half decent Nvidia card (GTX275 or higher) for physx then go with the 6970.

I have a 6950 2GB unlocked Shaders & it rocks. I would of went with the 570 myself but there is not much of a difference between the 2 that made me want to spend 350+ for it.

The 6950 2GB is a really kick butt card & can be had pretty cheap about 274.00 they do have a Powercolor here that come to 239 after rebate

Wait for the 590/6990 only if you are married to the idea of a dual-GPU card. Otherwise, pick up a single 580, or SLI 570s, or Crossfire 6950/70s.

I think SLi/xfire 570's/6950's would be your best bang for buck at this level of GPU
