Name some games you will play. Sorry for 3 consecutive posts.

You can pick up a Refurbished or Used Asus G71 for that price or cheaper. The CPU won't be as good (Core 2 Duo) but the GTX 260m will be far better.

Or, you could pick up a refurbished Asus G73 for just a little bit more. The i7 (4c/8t) would be far superior, as well as the mobility 5870.

Personally, I vote to spend just a little bit more, and try to pick up an Asus G73. I've seen some used ones go around here for $900-1000.

a 5650 will run most all modern games at that laptops native resolution with at least medium settings. Thats a fine choice for $800.

Although i got an Envy 14 with an i5 580, 120gb SSD, 8gb ram, and an ATI 5650 for $980+200 for the SSD. and its butter through Borderlands, Heroes of Newerth, Starcraft, Mass Effect 2 at mostly high settings if not maxed on native reso.

Well I'm playing League of Legends, and that's the only thing I'll ever play on it. It isn't a graphic intensive game. The rest would be for school work. I wouldnt be playing any types of FPS.

I could go more, but I don't want to, as it will be a waste. My desktop PC has a i7-930 and mostly all top of the line hardware with liquid cooling that I spent a fortune on, so I don't want to pay over 900$. Also because I'm not going to be playing ANY type of FPS games, only League of legends and MAYBE Aion online.
So going for anything more is overkill as it's a waste of money.

HP Pavilion DV6 series laptops are a good balangce of gaming performance, batter life and features for the price - not sure about the prices though as im not in america, but you can get them pretty cheap here
