Just Cause 2 running poorly

Thread Starter
I know my internal video is crap, but it runs Bad Company 2 and Mass Effect 2 at decent speed (20-30 fps) at med/max settings and 1024x768 resolution on XP x32 and DX9. While playing JC2 with everything on low and 640x480 i barely get 15 fps. Damn it. Is DX10 and Windows 7 is so slow, or it's a just horribly optimized game?

My specs: AMD Phenom x4 945 3 Ghz, 3x2Gb of ram 1333 mhz, ASUS mobo M4A88T-V EVO internal vid ATI Radeon HD 4250, HDD SATA 1.5 tb Seagate Barracuda, soundcard ESI Prodigy X-Fi NRG, Benq 22'' monitor

P.S.: I'm really angry, I spent my money on this crap (new OS and JC2), while I could get very good gfx card for the same price.

First off, welcome to forums!

Please go to User CP at the top and fill out your official system specs as it will help me~ as well many~ help you.

I hate to say this too but onboard video is not gonna handle Just Cause 2, it is a very ~surprisingly~ taxing game.

Probably your GPU, when I had a HD3870 it barely ran on lowest settings possible, now with my HD6870 it runs on max just fine.

Just Cause 2 is a pretty well optimized game. DX10 is a lot more demanding than DX9. Your video card isn't up to the task.

like everyone else said, that video card is not meant for games you need to get a new one.

Welcome to OCN, Next time before you make any computer related decisions, Post a thread first

Your video card is lacking, For gaming its the most important component in your computer. It is in your case also the weakest component.

I agree with everyone above ... esp. regarding asking on OCN before doing something like this. Everyone here would've told you that you need a dedicated card for this game.

The problem is really not the game, or Windows 7. Although the fact that JC2 has only a DX10 codepath (unlike the other two games you mentioned, which have DX9 codepath) is not helping the situation, as DX10 is tougher to run than DX9.

Honestly, SO much of the enjoyment of that game is enjoying the amazing graphics ... it's a bit like Crysis in that regard ... it's really not a game you want to play w/o at least a decent discrete (not onboard) gfx card.

Thanks. I know onboard gfx is slower than pricey dedicated solutions, and thanks to others for response, but read below.

You must be kidding. Why it should be more demanding with even much more crappier graphics, than BC2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2. Everything on low and looks like crap comparing to mentioned games on HIGH. Ok, I bought Dead Space 2 just few hours ago, fresh package, and it runs just great on high and 768p (yeah, you may consider it very funny - 22'' and 768p, but consoles have not much better resolution, so I've saved alot of bucks - internal gfx card support DX10, runs at decent speed (with support of sideport memory+UMA at most games with med/max settings, support HD video, has HDMI and DVI outputs, why care more really). Really, whats the problem. I should thank M$ with their awfully slow DX10 and JC2 devs for great optimization? I don't really see it. While, other modern games have BETTER picture and run a LOT FASTER on SAME hardware.

JC2 is fairly demanding game, It doesn't run very well for me even at native res. GTA4, BC2 run perfectly fine though.
