GTX 480 or GTX 560 Ti? - Page 2

Umm.

I'd say 560. The MSI 560 Ti has probably the best cooling solution of any 560 on it right now and is pretty dang easy to OC to 1000mhz. If you've seen any reviews of the Gigabyte 560 Ti SoC 1000mhz gpu it runs on the same level as a GTX 570, which has already been shown to run on the level of a 480.

Not to mention the huge difference in both temperatures and power draw between the two.

True, gtx480 is better ( from 10% to 15% depending on resolutions) than gtx560 at stock but gtx560 is a good OCer. gtx480 is 250w vs. gtx560 is 170w. You can take the gtx480 but limited to SLI because of TP-650 (good unit and usually does a more than its specs but max out, unless go for a 'bigger' psu...)

I just took a look at your case. It appears to be un-airflow friendly. Perhaps a 560 that exhausts out the rear is a good idea.

That 480 is quite a deal. But if they get their products directly from the manufacturer how can they be out of stock and get some more around the 15th? I doubt anybody is making 480's anymore. For $245 I would be tempted to build a new HTPC around it. The P67's should be available around then I think.

I had to make this same choice for my new rig, either a GTX480 or a GTX560 for the same price.

I chose the GTX480 becuase its faster at stock, and when the GTX560 is OC'ed it'll match the GTX480, but if you OC the GTX480, it'll again, be ahead with a healthy lead. smile.gif

Now unless you're a benchmarker and you crave every ounce of speed, then buy the 480 that you're checkin' out. BTW, that is a nice price for that 480 biggrin.gif

A single 480 would slap a single 560ti silly. Enough said.

560 is better if you don't want a huge heat dump into your case and room with the 480.

thinking.gif So in fairness, I can say a single GTX 570 slaps a single GTX 480 (since performance difference is basically the same in favor of the GTX 570)...right?

Agreed thumb.gif and because of the very minimal performance difference.

No.

perfrel.gif

GTX480 is 14% faster than the GTX560.
GTX570 is 1% faster than the GTX480.

GTX480 slaps the GTX560. Same thing cannot be said about the GTX570 to the GTX480

There's no reason to buy a 480 now that the 570 is out.

I honestly don't think 14% of extra performance is considered slapping, and if that is the case, powder me up cause the gtx 560 beats the living hell out of the gtx 460! rolleyes.gif
