The FC-2 revision that is out now (which I also own) is a great controller. Pretty much Lamptron's whole line up is solid. The Hummer & "Fan-Atic" are not so much. I have yet to use the FC1; though I suspect it's a good little controller.
The big issue with the Hummer is it only has 2 settings; On & Off. So there's not really a whole lot of control with it.
The big issue with the "Fan-Atic" is the 5v setting for it has a pretty large voltage droop which may prevent fans from starting.
Both of those controllers are voltage based though. Not a PWM design like the FC Line.
I was interested in getting the Fan-Atic because it is simple. I only operate my fans at the lowest voltage and at 12v anyway. But if the low voltages switch is too low it would be useless if you had fans that wouldn't start at that speed.
The rev. 1 FC-2, I have to warm up to spin my 38mm Panaflo 2150RPMs. If I could just hit a switch from low to high I would love it becasue I have to spend about 30 seconds to dial in the right noise to sound ratio with the FC-2.
I don't really understand why Lamptron is one of the only quality Fan controller companies out there. Everything else is pretty much crap and it seems like a fan controller is one of the most niche' enthusiast products.
Enthusiasts tend to be loyal, quality minded customers who will do anything to get a certain level of quality. So there is a much larger market out their for these type of quality fan controllers.
