Q6600 o.c. shows 2 cores???

Thread Starter
Hello everyone!!

I am new to this forum and searched it for the current problem as I did on Google with no results.
I have a Gigabyte EP35 DS3 rev. 2.1 F4 bios with the Q6600 is currently stable at 3 ghz (333x9) and I have 2x2 GB DDR2 800 Kingmax (at a ratio of 1:1 @ 667)
voltage is auto.
i want to reach 3.2 ghz with 1600 FSB.
When I cross the FSB 1333, which is the current, CPU only recognizes 2 cores.
I tried 400x8, which is my favorite because of the ratio of memory and I tried 356x9 and always the same: everything is stable, temperatures are good but the CPU recognizes only two cores.
I'm frustrated because a lot of people claim to have managed a stable oc the same configuration. I thought that this was a vdrop so I tried 50 times to change the voltage gradually without the desired results ....
I'm stuck here, please help !!!!!

p.s. I am new to overclocking so please forgive me if I forgot to enter certain information

Thanks in advance!

Cheerz!

You sure you didn't disable cores?

Stupid question but we have to check

I'll try my best to help you since I have the same processor but different motherboard. I've helped someone else to and it worked alright.

I don't get the part it detects only two cores? Must be some settings disabling it. Do you have something called EIST on? It actually makes the performance go lower when not needed.

These are my settings. I also started with a 3.0Ghz and have good temperatures. Try going to 3.2Ghz since its just a little higher but temperatures won't go up.

Here:

Vcore 1.3
Multiplier x8
400

Also don't put the RAM voltage on Auto it wont have good results as the system decides what to change.

Follow what are your RAM voltages also I suggest you also manually set the timings of the RAM don't leave it on Auto. On the sticker of my RAM it says I have 5-5-5-15 so that is what I set it to. And the voltage was 1.8v so make sure to set your voltage and timings according to what RAM's you use.

Hope it helped. I'll come back and try to help.

well i turned eist and c1e off, my timings are 5-5-5-15 and ram voltage is 1.8 default...timings changed automaticly to 5-5-5-15 as i turned mem multi to 2.0 and my ram volt is 1.8 auto....so you say that i should put my timings manualy to what it is by auto? anyway both cpu-z and taskmng detect 2 cores when i past thru 1333 fsb (i assume since it detects 4 at 1333 and lower)

No don't set it to what you see on Auto. Set it manually to what your RAM's real timings and real volt. Because my RAM's have some sticker on them showing the timings but the voltage wasn't on the sticker but I saw it on the official site. If its detects 4 cores below 1333 it means its the motherboard support or maybe you are using an older version of CPU-Z. Just helping you out with different possibilities. I'll check if I can find your motherboard on the internet to see what it supports.

These are my results just for you to know.

Edit

Found it, well it says it can reach 1600 when overclocked.

well no luck in rising fsb over 1333, just no f***** sense but now there is this other problem: i have win 7 ultimate x64 for almost a year and it always allocated full 4 gb of ram and now (since i updated bios to f4???not shure...)it says 4GB physical 3.5 usable??!!! is it possible that my chipset is f***** and causing all of this problems?

Not sure if your bios has this, but mine has a memory remap option that has to to be enabled or checked before it will show all ram above 3.5.

This happened to me a while back, install a (older) different bios version, and they will come back.

what bios do you have and what ver? i cannot find that option....think the best thing to do is to roll back bios to at least f3 or maybe f2 as it was before...
