Worried about my temps

Thread Starter
My cpu used to idle in at around 22-23C in the Summer. Currently in the Winter it has risen to idle in at around 30ish. Anything that could possibly be causing this? Or would it be time to replace my AS5? I've only had my thermal grease on there for about 4-5 months.

Anything under 60c should not be a worry at all. I run my i7 950@4.02 and my temps sit in the 50c-60c range depending on what I am doing.

That probably is the case. Also I would use a different thermal paste. AS5 takes 200h to break in and then wears out after a few months anyway. It's very high maintenance.

Any thermal paste you would recommend? AS5 is the only thing i have at the moment.

Load temperatures are all that matter for a CPU (as long as the idle is within reason) so you should test your load temperature.

CPU temperatures sensors are very inaccurate when they are that cool, so it's possible that your CPU is actually a similar temperature and just the temp sensors have changed.

At 25C A CPU temp sensors is easily +/- 10C, so a 5C change is certainly within reason.

My load tests on prime95 are at about 62-68. I'm measuring my temps straight from my mobo.

That's totally fine for the CPU.

As I said the temperature you mentioned is easily within in the standard deviation of the temperature sensors so you are fine.
