Intel Price Speculations - All Aboard!

Ok, so Sandy Bridge had some structural integrity problems, no big problem, patch job coming up! (April?)

Nevertheless, obviously the new SB CPUs are monstrously good to OC, though, this really isn't a factor in price..

What really is important is, they are around the same cost as their counter parts, like the i7-950 & i5-750/760....

So does that mean we are going to see those old 1156 Prices drop?

One can only hope!

Then of course Bulldozer is coming down the road and bridge doesn't seem like it's going to be holding up to all those Tons moving across the bridge to the other side, well of course this is pure speculation, but if in fact Bulldozer does weigh in as the Champ, you can expect the boxing rounds to get pretty ugly fast...

Now, on to the discussion at hand...

What do you guys think will happen with prices soon?

Can we expect to see the 1156 Sockets fall down 10-30% in prices?

I'm really wanting to see Intel drop those prices SOON, can't wait to pay $150 for an i5-750/760 again, whoosh!

Anyone care to join this carnival?

Sandy Bridge on the i7 line is cheaper than its 1366 counterpart, and the i5 blows away its 1156 counterpart, and ultimately, I don't expect to see much of a price drop on the 1366 and 1156 chips...10% at the most, but certainly not 30%. Unless one is able to catch them on sale, I think the $200 mark is about it for the 760.

Considering Intel just dished out $1B to fix the Sandybridge issues, I don't foresee any drop in prices on their hardware.

Then, Intel will have to price drop, by how much will depend on BD's price/performance.

We already saw price drops on the 960 & 970.

Keep in mind if BD owns the 2600K, I don't see it costing below $300, JMO.

Hard to tell..

Depends on the demand for the chips.

It's no problem for Intel.
Ya know... Most poeple in my country does not understand about CPU.
Most of them only know Intel. They don't know what the hell is AMD.
Many of them refers Pentium as "Dual Core" because they can't read "Intel Pentium inside" in the box or sticker. Some seller refers Core 2 Quad as Quad Core because they can't read as well.
I remember when I was looking for Intel Core 2 Quad, the seller told me that the brand is "Quad Core". I told him that it is Core 2 Quad but he got angry.
And one of the funniest thing is they often refers CPU or Processor as Intel or Pentium.
For example : "My new computer use Core 2 Duo Pentium"

Intel brand is very strong in my country because of people like them...

If bulldozer owns Sandy bridge it will certainly be priced higher than sandy bridge. It would be just like the socket 939 and early socket a days, if AMD can compete clock for clock and trade blows at the lowest to the highest end you can say bye bye to cheap AMD chips.(in respect to intel chip prices) That being said if AMD does take the lead I could see a slight price drop on sandy bridge cpus, but nothing major.
