Why is every graphics card I buy garbage?

Thread Starter
The only graphics card I've ever had that has worked well was the Radeon 5770. Every expensive graphics card I buy is garbage.

Currently I'm using the 6970 (Diamond 2GB), and it simply will not install new drivers. It will only work on the 10.12 drivers that come on the disc (specific to diamond), and that's it. Every driver installation fails otherwise. Even the regular 10.12 drivers fail.

(driver sweeper, reformatting, etc... it all does not work... on a fresh driver install it won't work, nor will it work transitioning from one driver to another)

Use driver sweeper , remove every display driver from ur system ... reboot , let it install drivers auto .. install latest drivers over that .

I'll reiterate:

I've tried reformatting on three different occasions. I've tried using driver sweeper.

On a fresh install, the only drivers that will install are from the disc. I cannot fresh install any drivers from AMD's website. After installing the drivers from the disc, I still cannot update. I've tried installing the drivers from the disc, then driver sweeping, then installing new drivers... I've tried reformatting. Nothing works.

Problem is even on a fresh installation after reformatting it won't work.

It's ridiculous.

I went to Diamond's website, and their driver list didn't even include the 69xx cards. So you can't dl their drivers from them.

I went to AMD's website, and they link you to 11.2 drivers for the 69xx cards. But now I'm reading (as you've linked) that nothing over 10.11 will work on a 69xx card.

I'm getting confused and frustrated. This is ridiculous. A brand new top-of-the-line card should work with brand new drivers. :-/

I'm going to resell this crap on craigslist as soon as I can. Sadly now I hate both ATI and Nvidia. My GTX 460 was crap when I got it (crashing drivers).
