Several problems with first build

Thread Starter
I have many problems with my first build, I placed the standoffs have both the 4-pin and 24-pin power connectors placed securely. My main problem is that two of my fans won't spin unless I give them a little push and the third one won't spin at all. My other problem is my dvd burner's tray won't open even though the power led on the front is lit (yes I connected the sata power cable). Does anyone have any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

The fan issue could be because of the voltages supplied to the fans. Are the fans on motherboard headers, or 12v molex adapters? If they're off molex then the fans are most likely faulty. If they're on the motherboard, try disabling system smart fan control and see what happens.

You should use a voltmeter to measure the voltage at the fan connectors. Sounds like the voltage is too low and that is why they don't spin. Maybe the power supply is DOA.

If it's the power supply being the issue like coonmanx said, the SATA power cable might not be supplying enough to the drive.

Sounds like the psu isn't putting out enough to power the whole rig.

I agree it sounds like the psu doesn't have enough juice. How old is it? did you grab a voltmeter check its power output
