Building a new pc for my dad

Thread Starter
My dad asked me earlier if he would build him a new pc from parts around the house and a few new things, so im thinking should i go for an intel build or an amd build and hands down amd get better value for money imo. Anyway just need you guys to check over with this bit's he'd be better off with and if any amd geniuses know any kind of combinations that work well with amd rigs. Its a very cheapo budget but he only wants to check email watch stuff on youtube ad check the football thats about it i think. The budget is £200-£250.
so far i need some personal opinions...

mobo:
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...ode=MBA-M4N68T
or
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...ode=MBA-M4A77T

cpu:
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...ode=CPA-AP2955
suggestions if i can get anything the same for cheaper or whatever.

psu:
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...x?type=2&id=24
not decided, shouldn't need more than 500w? might do a little overclocking. but thats all you guys decide on the psu

dvd drive:

ram:

or
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...MEG-D3-4096R69
or

the rest ive already got sorted
thanks ~rowey

You don't need a Phenom II X4. 125w processor will run hot and you'd want a better board with better power phases and vrm cooling. I would go with a 65w Athlon II X2 or a 95w Athlon II X3 or X4. The X2 will be more than enough power for all the tasks you listed.

For the motherboard, is there a graphics card you are planning on pairing with this. I would recommend an AMD chipset board over any nvidia chipset board, but the amd chipset board you linked does not have integrated video. If you don't have a card get a 785g or a 880g for integrated graphics.

I didn't see any video card on the Mobo, but he will need one if he plans on watching videos.

You could pick up a cheep 512 MB 8800 for about 40 pounds.

In that site look at high end psus but lower prices. This OCZ is similar price to those on the page you linked and is 80 plus.

The Kingston RAM is the same price over the Corsair, definitely get that over it. Unless you want the Ripjaws, those overclock fairly.
I don't usually recommend OCZ power supples... not that good quality.

Antec BP 550+
Is this close enough?

The build otherwise looks pretty good beware the Athlon II x4 640 is actually not a very good overclocker at all, it more often maxes out and hits a voltage wall at 3.5-3.6Ghz.

And trust me, you won't ever need that many fans Elite 370 already comes with one, use it. You'll be fine with the included Hyper 212 fan, included rear case fan, one extra fan on the side for GPU area, and possibly one front fan ziptied in 5.25" bays for a wind tunnel effect. I had more than 15 fans in my CM 690 before... all that they really did was create noise. Total fan count is now 4 on the case, 2 CPU cooler, one GPU, that's it, much better for noise and cools just as well.
