Highest I got was around 4.2ghz before RAM started becoming a problem. I dunno how to overclock that stuff yet.

I mainly got my Xeon because it offered the same performance as the i7 860 at the time, but at $50 cheaper. OCing made up with the difference in mhz.

Actual performance wise it should be the same if you were to compare an i7 860 at the same clock speeds.

Exactly. Most of the time I had my Xeon I wished I saved money and bought an i5. Especially considering most of my applications did not support hyperthreading.
