Hey cmon now, don't tell me any of you was offended or something?

I have asperger's syndrome,so i don't "#¤!" recognize the thing called "politeness".

All i wanna know is,if it takes a less beefier GFX card than you guys have suggested to run JC2 max settings in dx10 not dx11.
a $200 new generation will be more powerful than a $200 previous generation card.

Buy the GTX 460. It's the best card for its price, it'll run beautifully when overclocked, doesn't matter which Directx the game uses.

DX11 has more features compared to DX10, like tessellation and better depth of field.

Don't buy a DX10 card.. It's simply outdated and outperformed by newer generation cards.

My brother's GT 240 can pull about 30fps on fairly high settings (1680x1050). But I know my HD 4850 could do it too, I think that could reach about 40-50fps average.

If you wanna buy a cheaper card, we can't stop you. But you'll just be wasting money cause I AM PRETTY SURE you'll upgrade anyway..

Don't get stuck on older tech.... Not when there's already a new and better one.

It's not just about which Directx a card supports, it's about their architecture....

It's like comparing a 955BE and i5-750 both @ 4.0Ghz. And while you think that they should perform equally; that is just pure inaccuracy. They are two different products.... And you can obviously point out which one wins

lol, I highly doubt anybody got offended. This is the first time I've been on since yesterday.

Okay, since you game at 1400x900, I'm pretty sure a GTX 460 will do for you. And yes, you are right about the game being DirectX 10 only; whoever says otherwise is a nutjob.

just get something within your budget and get the game over with Run it at native res and turn down the settings a bit won't hurt too much unless you sit like half a feet from your monitor. Cheers! btw, gtx 460 is great for the money right now in $150 range.

@OP

What kind of PC are you running. If your running a 775 socket system the 460 has been well known to cause problems with that socket. Just making sure before you buy the card

Ahh thx for all the replies...well the problem with 460 is that there are a **** LOAD of them around here. And the best ones are probably out of my reach.

I mean there's probably a difference between buying a PALIT 460 or a Club3d 460(there are A LOT MORE and i'm not prone to knowing which one beats the other...)not only the company logo BUT the SONIC or TWINTECH or whatever.Basically there are more than 20 different 460-s for me to choose from and i'm pretty sure they don't all have the same efficiency.

The other reason being with the card is that yes i understand it's no point buying a outdated card...BUT THESE CARDS WILL BE OUTDATED ANYWAYS.

And i aint gonna want a better card for ANY other game than this one.

Just cause 2 will be the LAST game i'm ever going to play idc how good graphics or how good the new games are going to be...unless those RHETARDS make a just cause 3 which i doubt.

But even if they DO,then the card that could run JC2 on max would never be able to run JC3 on max so nevertheless i don't want to invest too much in a card that i will only be needing to play this game at max graphics.

I just installed the game again though...and as amazing as it seems,it seems to run a lot better when it's installed on the windows directory and with 60 gigs of virtual memory.

I had to reinstall windows cause of a total failure a few months ago and i only just now decided to get this game back on the PC.

I was gonna wait until i get a new GFX card but i'm giving my old one one last try.

And well...the only things i have to turn off to play the game decently is GPU water sim,SOAA,bokeh filter and shadows to medium.

And your telling me those options are SO POWERFUL that i'd have to buy a TOTALLY expensive card WAY better than mine just to have those options enabled?

I'm having it a little hard to believe.

Well i switched my physX processor to CPU too maybe that took a little load off the GPU.

Anyways...i'm just trying to give more information to get better help or advice for my situation.

Mate,i keep up with technology.

That means i know that the REAL technology that already exists is 10 years ahead of what they are giving us.

That means that every time a new card is released,it's only 10% better than the last one to give you an image of it being a NEW and FABULOUS thing.

In truth it's just a marketing trick to sell these things in steps rather than just allowing you to get the best right away.

I hate the market,i hate money, and i hate everything that has got to do with ripping people off.

Because i know this,i refuse to go along with it.

So i just look for the best way out.

I can understand your concern, but trust me...i am not going to upgrade.

But yes all cards have different architecture, unfortunately i am not very skilled at understanding these special ups and downs on cards.

I mean i can vaguely assume what card is better than the other, but i don't know the weaknesses or strengths of each and every card. That's why i'm asking here.

Because you never know some cards might be TOTALLY hardcore be able to play any game at high fps but if the card causes malfunctions in your hardware or **** like that, burns in too fast or the cooling of it isn't reliable or perhaps even the card itself can only last for a year then it's probably not the type i'm looking for
