You can't know that. If he wants to post numbers and explain himself than fine, but I'm willing to accept his statement if he says it's true. Some chips just aren't that great and require more voltage being pumped into them than is good for the chip to achieve great overclocks. I had a 920 that was a c0 that didn't do nearly as well as this 930. Sold it to a roomate and he had trouble with it too on a different mobo.

It happens and a batch number isn't a guarantee.

I cannot guarantee that but I how can you guarantee he's not doing something wrong on his end and is just looking to the forum to give him the OK before going ahead and making the switch ?
I think it's a waste of money... but it's not my money.

So you should have tried 1.360? or 1.375?
How can you say it wants vcore bad when you have not found the vcore that it needs?
Post you settings and maybe we can help

It happens, some chips need more voltage. BSOD 1E is usually VCore.

1.37v is Intel's recommended max voltage. 1.55v is the absolute max . Some guys do benching suicide runs into 1.6v with LN2 and all kinds of exotic cooling.

Trust me guys, if I'm doing something wrong I'd love to know and have it so I don't have to sell my current chip! I'll post my settings here and you guys decide.

VCore - 1.296 Prime BSOD 2 hours - 1.36 OCCT BSOD 1 hour 45-50min (code 0x1E)
QPI - 1.35 also tried 1.31/1.33
IOH voltage - 1.2

Bclk - 190
CPU multi - 21
UCLK - 3047
DRAM Freq - 1523
RAM timings - 7 8 7 20
CPU amplitude - 800MV
DRAM bus freq - 1.65

I am personally not comfortable with temps over 80 degrees, this is another reason why I don't want to push vcore even more.

Try to raise your Unclock multi one notch and test again.

OCCT's Linpack test is good or LinX/IBT with max memory, they're all Linpack, the program Intel tests stability with.

But doesn't 0x1E BSOD mean increase vcore by a notch? I will try raising uncore to the next level and report back.

edit: Another note, I use to run 3.8ghz at 1.25 vcore. OCCT passed for 2hours and LinX passed for 50 runs. However, one morning my monitor would not turn on.. had to restart a few times to get the overclocking failure message - that problem never got solved. I should also note that my rampage II gene has a faulty / non functioning ram slot, which i'm not using of course.

I suspect something is very wrong with my mobo, when I start up my computer it does not show me the republic of gamers intro screen. Could my mobo have something to do with this need for vcore?

1E is usually VCore, you probably will need more voltage. If temps are ok I wouldn't worry about VCores up to 1.4v load. Raising Uncore clocks to be more proportional to core clocks can help stabilize the OC, it may also require more VTT because of the higher Uncore clocks.

To your edit,

A faulty motherboard can give you inconsistent results at the same settings and make OCing a nightmare. If you already have a bad RAM slot why not RMA?
