i never restarted my system when downloading and installing the bios could that be it?
i ask because after putting the old cpu back in it said it was update success.
if its a dud i can return iti recieved it today from newegg

Turning it off after the flash should have been sufficient, it was for me when I flashed my GIGABYTE board.

Definitely put your old chip back in to check if it boots. If it runs fine, get in touch with newegg to get the Phenom replaced for a new one.

it must be dead which kinda sucks now i hvae to send it back and get a new one.
the old cpu works just fine.
