is there any way to do this?

I have 100% determined there is no way my 6970 graphics card will accept a new driver update. No methods work. Reformatting, driver sweeping, attempting specific drivers or specific packages, etc. Nothing works except the driver disc that came with the graphics card.

Now, what I have tried to do is flash the BIOS to a different 6970 BIOS, in hopes that this would fix my issue (since Diamond seems to be shoddy). However, every other BIOS says it's the exact same BIOS version. What I've done is I've flicked the switch on my 6970, and I've tried using atiflash on a bootable USB drive -- this doesn't work (gives an error says "Adapter not found ERROR 0FL01". I've tried using Winflash, and it says that my driver is already the same as what I'm trying to change it to.

So I'm wondering: Can I downgrade my 6970 to a 6950 (note this is actually a 6970 at stock), then re-upgrade it to a 6970, in order to take on the BIOS of a Sapphire 6970 and possibly be able to then update my drivers properly? ^_^

DO NOT DO THAT!!!!! Just flash from 6970 bios to 6970 bios. You could end up bricking your card.

I was having issues as well with the latest drivers all the way back to 10.11 (worked my way down from 11.2, 11.1, 10.12, 10.11). I tried Reinstalling my old 10.10 drivers and it worked.

You having issues where it fails to isntall the HDMI/DP audio driver? That is where mine screws up as well.

Did it with one card too and still same issue.

The issue is no drivers except the ones on the disc work. I've tried 10.11, 10.12, 11.2, and 11.1... none of which work.

CCC will update to its newer version, but the drivers themselves just won't update. The *ONLY* thing that works is the diamond disc that comes with the graphics card.

Every time I try to update drivers, it will either give me an "error - failed" or simply no message at all and nothing updates. I've tried contacting Diamond as well as AMD... I'm sure they'll give me a good runaround for a few weeks saying "have you tried rebooting your computer after installing drivers", then a week later emailing me "have you tried uninstalling previous drivers" ... even though I specified everything in my email. They'll run me around.

Sad thing is I wouldn't be so pissed off if my Starcraft 2 worked fine. It freezes up randomly sometimes. Trying to pinpoint if it's the graphics card or my SSD.

100% PEBKAC.
Do a reformat and update the driver through Windows Update if you cannot handle driver installation.

Or, just stay on the CD drivers.
Not a big deal to use the latest ones, especially with SC2

Also, by flicking the BIOS switch you've reverted to booting from the backup BIOS.
If you ever do try to flash it, you will likely encounter errors until you switch to the writable one.

Alright.

Question though: I've already tried doing that method. Windows Update doesn't work after a reformat.

As for the drivers off the disc: They're wonderful and all... but I prefer not getting lag spikes in Starcraft 2 frown.gif
